Is the grass truly greener on the other side of the fence? Though it seems like the prettiest green you’ve ever seen, could it merely be a reflection of your own grass.
It isn’t easy for anyone to know when to let go whether it’s a relationship, a job, your child, your false self. Most of us just hop over the fence expecting greatness without trying to find the greatness we already have. Of course like everything in life there is always an end but do we give up too quickly looking for the easy way out?
I read a story recently about a man who owned a farm in Africa and he had heard from a friend that Diamonds were being excavated on the other side of town. The old man decided to sell his farm to buy a piece of the land that he had heard was rich with diamonds. A year later the old man had excavated all of his property and found nothing. He ended up passing away from the stress and hard work. His friend happened to go pass his old house and the new owner gave him the sad news of the old guy moving in search of diamonds and passing away without finding anything. The friend noticed that there was a shiny rock on the end table and asked the guy if he could see it because it was beautiful. Come to find out the property that the old guy sold to go find diamonds was saturated with diamonds. The moral of the story is look at your own back yard first before you hop over the fence because the grass is usually the greenest right under your feet.
There are times when it's right to jump the fence especially when there are so many possibilities out there but don’t hop the fence without being grateful for the things you already have and checking to make sure that what your seeking isn’t already in your backyard.
